Call center outsourcing pricing models are the ways a provider charges for handling your calls: per minute, per call, per hour or per agent (dedicated agents), per outcome, or a hybrid of these. Per-minute and per-call pricing suit low or seasonal volume, while dedicated agents usually become cheaper at around 900 calls a month or more. Outcome-based pricing works best for sales and lead generation.
In 2026, offshore agents in India and the Philippines typically cost 6–16 an hour, compared with 25–65 in the US and Canada. Always compare quotes on the total monthly cost for your call volume, not just the headline rate.
Two call center quotes can look completely different and still cost you the same. One provider offers $0.80 a minute. Another asks for $12 an hour per agent. A third wants a fee for every resolved ticket. Which one is cheaper depends less on the rate and more on how many calls you actually get.
Most pricing guides stop at listing the models. That's useful, but it doesn't tell you which one to sign. Below, we walk through how each call center outsourcing pricing model works and what it typically costs in 2026. Then we run the numbers on one typical workload, so you can see the exact call volume where one model starts beating another.
The short answerNearly every quote you receive will use one of these five models, or a mix of them.
| Pricing Model | Basis | Cost | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per minute | Talk time (sometimes handling time) | Low: rises with every call | Low or seasonal volume, overflow, after-hours cover |
| Per call or per contact | Each handled call, chat or email | Low to medium | Short, simple, predictable contacts |
| Per hour or per agent (dedicated) | Agent time, whether calls come in or not | High: fixed monthly bill | Steady volume, complex products, 24/7 programmes |
| Outcome-based | Results: a sale, booking, resolution or payment | Low: depends on results | Sales, lead generation, collections |
| Hybrid | A fixed base plus usage or performance fees | Medium | Growing businesses that want stability with some flexibility |
Where your agents are based affects the rate more than any other factor. These are the ranges published in an August 2026 pricing guide by ShyftOff, for dedicated agents billed by the hour.
| Delivery region | Typical rate per agent hour (USD) |
|---|---|
| India and the Philippines (offshore) | $6–$16 |
| Eastern Europe | $9–$22 |
| Latin America (nearshore for the US) | $8–$23 |
| US and Canada (onshore) | $25–$65 |
| Western Europe and Australia | $40–$65 |
Treat these as a starting point, not a price list. Rates move with language, support hours, skill level and contract length. Technical support costs more than order tracking. Night shifts, weekend cover and non-English languages usually add a premium.
For UK buyers: most offshore providers quote in US dollars. Ask for a quote in pounds, or agree how currency changes will be handled, so your monthly bill doesn't move with the exchange rate.
This is the calculation we recommend every buyer runs before choosing a model. Take an online retailer that needs inbound phone support, Monday to Friday, during business hours.
Assumptions (illustrative rates, taken from the middle of the market ranges above):| Calls per month | Per minute | Per call | Dedicated agents (by the hour) | Cheapest |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 400 | $1,920 | $1,800 | $4,224 (2 agents) | Per call |
| 1,000 | $4,800 | $4,500 | $4,224 (2 agents) | Dedicated |
| 2,000 | $9,600 | $9,000 | $4,224 (2 agents) | Dedicated |
| 3,000 | $14,400 | $13,500 | $6,336 (3 agents) | Dedicated |
Your numbers will differ, but the method is the same. Multiply your real monthly volume by each quote, add the extra fees covered in the next section, and compare the totals. If your volume is close to the break-even point, a hybrid model often makes the most sense.
The headline rate is rarely the whole bill. Ask every provider which of these are included, and get the answer in writing.
| Possible extra cost | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Setup or onboarding fee | Is there a one-off fee, and what exactly does it cover? |
| Initial training | Is training for the first team included? Who pays to train replacements when agents leave? |
| Technology and licences | Are the phone system, call recording, helpdesk seats and reporting included, or charged per seat? |
| Minimum volume or minimum term | Is there a minimum monthly bill, or a minimum contract length? |
| After-hours, weekend and holiday cover | Is there a premium for nights, weekends or public holidays? |
| Languages | Do non-English languages cost more? ShyftOff reports multilingual premiums of 20–40%. |
| Quality checks and reporting | Are call monitoring, scorecards and monthly reports included? |
| Rate increases | Can the rate rise during the contract, and by how much each year? |
| Hiring agents directly | If you later want to hire an agent yourself, what is the conversion fee? Outsource Accelerator cites 10–25% of first-year salary as typical. |
| Exit costs | What is the notice period, and is there a fee for ending the contract early? |
A provider with a slightly higher rate but everything included is often cheaper over a year than a low headline rate with five add-ons.
Start from your situation, not the provider's preferred model.
| Your situation | Model that usually fits | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Testing outsourcing for the first time | Per minute or per call, with a short pilot | Low commitment while you judge quality |
| Under about 900 calls a month, or very uneven volume | Per minute or per call | You avoid paying for idle agent time |
| Steady daily volume | Dedicated agents, by the hour or month | Lower cost per call and agents who know your business |
| Complex products or technical support | Dedicated agents | Knowledge builds up and stays on your account |
| 24/7 cover for UK or US customers | Dedicated or hybrid | Offshore teams can cover your night hours as their normal day shift |
| A steady base plus seasonal peaks | Hybrid | A fixed core team, with flexible capacity on top |
| Outbound sales, lead generation or bookings | Outcome-based or hybrid | Pay is linked to results you can measure |
One practical tip: whatever model you start on, ask for the right to switch after three to six months. Once you have real volume data, it is much easier to pick the model that is genuinely cheapest.
At SkyOS BPO, we work mainly with UK, US and Canadian small and mid-sized businesses from our centre in Mohali, India. Most of our clients choose dedicated agents on a fixed monthly fee per agent, starting from GBP 1,200 per agent per month. For clients with smaller or uneven volume, we suggest starting with a short pilot so both sides can see real call numbers before agreeing on a model.
Every quote we send includes:If you'd like to compare models for your own volume, send us your monthly call numbers and support hours at , info@skyosbpo.com. We'll show you the cost under each model, including the ones we don't recommend, so you can decide with the full picture.
